JAKARTA, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- As a flagship project under the Belt and Road Initiative and pragmatic cooperation between Indonesia and China, the 142-km-long Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway (HSR) is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, with a maximum design speed of 350 km per hour.
Costing over 7 billion U.S. dollars, the construction of the HSR was a massive undertaking, involving years of efforts by Chinese builders in particular.
It connects Indonesia's capital city of Jakarta and West Java Province's capital Bandung, cutting the travel time to just 40 minutes, and brings fresh air to the country's public transportation while reviving local economy.
