NANNING, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- The core construction phase of an irrigation system to supply water to over 66,000 hectares of farmland was completed on Saturday in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.↳
The Dateng Gorge Water Conservancy project started in 2014 and is located in the Pearl River Basin, in Guiping City. This project is a crucial part of the country's water network to control floods, facilitate shipping, generate electricity, and provide irrigation.↳
With a total investment of 8 billion yuan (about 1.1 billion U.S. dollars), the core construction process of the irrigation system was completed four months ahead of schedule, according to the constructors.↳
