TAIYUAN, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- The total installed capacity of photovoltaic (PV) power in Shanxi Province, north China, had climbed to over 20 million kilowatts by the end of July, a new record, said local authorities on Friday.
Over 19 percent of installed power grid capacity in Shanxi, the country's largest coal-producing region, comes from PV power, according to the State Grid Shanxi Electric Power Company.
Notably, around Thursday noon, the province's power grid saw nearly half of its electricity contributed by PV power, also a record new high, said the company. ■
