COLOMBO, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's meteorology department said in its weather forecast on Wednesday that there is increased possibility of showery weather conditions in the southwestern part of the country in early September.
The department said showers are likely to occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North Western Provinces and in Galle and Matara districts in the Southern Province.
It requested people to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Earlier, Sri Lanka faced dry weather conditions leading to drinking water scarcity and crop damage. ■
