JAKARTA -- Indonesia on Monday launched its autonomous light rail transit (LRT) train to reduce traffic congestion and pollution in the highly populated capital Jakarta.
The LRT project spans 41.2 km and costs 32.6 trillion rupiahs (around 2.1 billion U.S. dollars) to cover the cities of Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi. (Indonesia-Transport)

CANBERRA -- Eight of the 20 U.S. Marines who were injured when their helicopter crashed off the coast of Australia remain in hospital, authorities confirmed on Monday.

NEW DELHI -- The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on Monday formally announced that it would launch "Aditya-L1", the first space-based Indian observatory to study the Sun, on Sept. 2 from the Satish Dhawan Space Center located in Sriharikota of India's southern state of Andhra Pradesh, off the Bay of Bengal.
"The Aditya-L1 will be the first Indian space-based observatory-class solar mission to unlock the mysteries of the Sun," added the ISRO. (India-Solar Mission)
