SYDNEY, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- The ticket allocation for Sunday Grandstand and Park Pass to the Formula One Australian Grand Prix 2024 was exhausted within two hours after the official release on Tuesday.
According to a statement by the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, the final release of tickets went on sale at about 12:00 p.m. local time (0200 GMT), with the ticket allocation for Sunday Grandstand and Park Pass as well as Saturday Grandstand exhausted in less than two hours.
The organizers confirmed that over 100,000 people pre-registered for early access to tickets to next year's Australian Grand Prix, which made the race the biggest pre-registration for a sporting event nationally in Ticketmaster Australia's history.
The 2023 edition saw an estimated attendance of 444,631 over the four days, eclipsing the previous record of 419,114 set in 2022. The total estimated attendances on both Friday and Saturday were the highest day two and day three numbers since the first Melbourne race in 1996.
"The past two F1 Australian Grands Prix have broken Melbourne attendance records, and next year's race is set to be bigger than ever," said Steve Dimopoulos, Victorian minister for tourism, sport, and major events.
Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO Travis Auld noted that limited tickets for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are still available.
"The record-breaking number of pre-registrations and the rate of today's sales demonstrate that fans are just as excited as us for next year's F1 event in Melbourne," said Auld.
The F1 Australian Grand Prix 2024 will come back to Albert Park in Melbourne from March 21 to 24, 2024. ■
