NEW DELHI -- A payload onboard the Lander of India's Moon Mission-3, or Chandrayaan-3, has sent back its first observations about the temperature profile of the south pole of the lunar surface, said the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on Sunday.

The payload, called ChaSTE (Chandra's Surface Thermophysical Experiment), measures the temperature profile of the lunar topsoil around the south pole, in order to understand the thermal behavior of the Moon's surface, it added. (India-Moon Mission)

PHNOM PENH -- The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union Asia-Pacific Robot Contest 2023 (ABU Robocon) was held in Cambodia on Sunday, with the participation of 14 university teams from more than 10 countries.

ISLAMABAD -- At least seven people were killed and 11 others injured when a passenger van turned turtle in Mansehra district of Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province on Saturday, the rescue service reported.

The accident took place in Maangla area of the district after the driver lost control of the vehicle due to which it went off the road and overturned, resulting in casualties. (Pakistan-Accident)

CANBERRA -- Three U.S. Marines have been killed in an aircraft crash during a training exercise off Australia's north coast.

The Marine Rotational Force (MRF) Darwin on Sunday confirmed that three personnel have died and five more are in hospital in a serious condition after the MV-22 Osprey crashed with 23 personnel on board at approximately 9:30 a.m. local time on Sunday (2330 GMT on Saturday). SUVA -- The Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission in Fiji has condemned Japan's discharge of nuclear-contaminated wastewater into the ocean, urging the Pacific Island leaders to stand in solidarity to oppose Tokyo's move.

MANILA -- Saola intensified into a super typhoon at dawn on Sunday, threatening to dump heavy rain and severe winds in the northern Philippines, the Philippine state weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Saola could bring heavy rain in mountainous areas, which could trigger flooding and landslides.

The bureau last spotted Saola over the coastal waters of Isabela province on the northern Luzon island. Saola was blowing south-southwestward "slowly," packing 185 km per hour winds and gusts of up to 230 km per hour. (Philippines-Saola-Super Typhoon)
