BEIJING, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Guangzhou FC forward Ling Jie has expressed confidence in his side averting relegation from the Chinese second-tier league under Suay Sanchez Salvador who has transformed the team.
Salvador took over as head coach in early June when the eight-time Chinese champions struggled in the second-tier league, drawing three times and losing five in their first eight games this season.
Guided by the Spaniard, the Guangzhou side climbed to 11th place from 14th, six points above the relegation zone.
"He brought noticeable improvement to the team," said Ling Jie.
"He advocated attacking football, which led to more goals and less pressure on the defense," he said.
"It's normal to have ups and downs for a young team like ours. So long as we keep focused and determined, I think it's not a problem for us to stay up in the league," he added. ■
