HONG KONG, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.5 jolted 42 km west of Sola, Vanuatu at 1247 GMT on Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 193.0 km, was initially determined to be at 13.88 degrees south latitude and 167.16 degrees east longitude. ■
