RAMALLAH, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Dozens of Palestinians were injured early Wednesday in clashes with the Israeli soldiers near the Balata refugee camp, on the outskirt of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, Palestinian medics said.

At least eight Palestinians were injured by live ammunition fired by Israeli soldiers during the clashes, who were later sent to hospital, said the Palestinian Red Crescent Society in a statement.

Some 85 other Palestinians, who showed symptoms after inhaling teargas, received first aid at the scene, it added.

One of the clashes broke out when dozens of Israeli soldiers were escorting hundreds of Israeli prayers to a religious site near the refugee camp, according to Israel Radio. The report said that bombs exploded and fire was exchanged between the soldiers and the Palestinian militants.

In the meantime, Israeli armed forces stormed the eastern part of Nablus and blew up an apartment and an office that belonged to the Fatah movement.

Several Palestinian armed groups announced in separate statements that their militants traded fire with the soldiers and detonated roadside bombs against the Israeli military vehicles.

On the same day, the Israeli army destroyed a workshop that manufactures homemade bombs in the refugee camp, said an army spokesman in a statement.

During the day, 19 Palestinians, including two fishermen off the Gaza Strip's coast, were arrested by the Israeli army, according to the Israeli army spokesman and Palestinian sources.
