YANGON, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- Eleven suspects have been arrested along with the seizure of controlled chemicals worth over 178 million kyats (84,700 U.S. dollars) by police in Myanmar, the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) has reported.
The arrests were made on Aug. 9 in a joint operation by anti-narcotics police forces in Lewe Township, Yamethin Township, and Mingaladon Township, the committee said on Sunday.
In the operation, 2,660 liters of sulfuric acid were seized from a vehicle in Lewe Township, with 18,200 liters of hydrochloric acid found in a 22 wheeler in Yamethin Township, and 10,200 liters of sulfuric acid discovered in a warehouse in Mingaladon Township.
Further investigations were underway. ■
