RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Veteran forward Deyverson scored one goal and set up another as Cuiaba extended their remarkable run of form with a 3-0 home victory over Flamengo in Brazil's Serie A championship on Sunday.
The hosts went ahead just after halftime at Arena Pantanal when Matheus Alexandre fired home from inside the six-yard box.
Clayson doubled the lead shortly after by combining with Deyverson before slotting a low finish into the bottom left corner.
Deyverson completed the rout with a close-range finish after Wellington Silva's pass 10 minutes from time.
The result marked Cuiaba's fourth consecutive league victory, and they have not lost in the top flight since a 1-0 defeat at Vasco da Gama on June 26.
Antonio Oliveira's men are now eighth in the 20-team standings with 28 points from 18 games as they bid for a place in the Copa Libertadores for the first time.
Flamengo remain second, 13 points behind leaders Botafogo, who were held to a goalless draw at Cruzeiro earlier in the day.
In other fixtures on Sunday, Bahia won 3-1 at home to America Mineiro, Bragantino prevailed 1-0 at Coritiba, Atletico Mineiro won 2-0 at Sao Paulo, and Vasco da Gama clinched a 1-0 home win over Gremio. ■
