CHENGDU, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- The three-day rowing tournament at the Chengdu Universiade ended here on Sunday with China pocketing four out of 15 gold medals on offer and also bagging two silver and four bronze medals.
Chinese athletes Zhou Yuxiu and Zhang Peixin won the first gold in women's pair of rowing tournament for the host. Athletes from the Netherlands and Germany obtained the silver and bronze medals respectively.
Song Chunxiao, Zong Zhaoshan, Liu Jiangyu and Xiao Yang took a convincing win over their opponents in 6:09.46 in men's four final for the gold.
"I am happy that all my teammates make great efforts during the competition," said Song.
Zhang Shuxian, Liu Xiaoxin, Wang Zifeng and Xu Xingye from China overwhelmed their opponents in 6:41.05 in women's four final for the gold.
Chinese athletes also won the gold in women's eight, and their male counterparts won a bronze in men's eight final.
Ni Xulin and Zhang Songhu won a silver in men's pair final. The athletes from the Netherlands and Moldova obtained gold and bronze respectively.
Elsewhere, Sun Hongjing and Chen Weichun won bronze and silver in women's and men's single sculls finals.
Ni and Chen also teamed up to win a bronze in men's double sculls, while Tang Haiqi won a bronze in lightweight men's single sculls for the host. ■
