ANKARA, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- The Turkish intelligence service on Friday killed a senior PKK member in the northern Iraqi province of Sinjar, the semi-official Anadolu Agency reported.

The PKK member was identified as Yilmaz Bayram, also known by his codename Agit Gever, the report quoted security sources as saying.

Bayram is the group's top logistics man providing weapons and ammunition to PKK militants in northern Iraq, according to the report.

Türkiye's National Intelligence Organization, which has been monitoring high-ranking members of the PKK, recently intensified cross-border operations in northern Iraq, particularly in the Qandil Mountains, the main base of the group, and killed several senior PKK cadres. Türkiye said the PKK militants often launched cross-border attacks.

On Wednesday, the Turkish Defense Ministry said one of the group's largest ammunition depots was seized in northern Iraq this week, and a total of 15,400 pieces of anti-aircraft ammunition were confiscated.

The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the United States and the European Union, has rebelled against the Turkish government for more than three decades.
