KABUL, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Afghan security personnel have foiled attempts to smuggle 145 kg human hair in west Afghanistan's Nimroz province, local TV channel Ariana News reported on Tuesday.
According to the private media outlet, the smugglers had placed 145 kg human hairs and 2,400 kg copper rods in a vehicle and were attempting to take the items out of the impoverished country when security personnel of the customs department discovered and thwarted the illegal attempts.
However, the TV channel did not say if anyone had been apprehended.
Smuggling drugs has been common in war-torn Afghanistan but attempts to smuggle human hair are rarely reported in the country. ■
