LUANDA, August 1 (Xinhua) -- Angola signed two agreements with the United Nations on Monday in Luanda, the country's capital, one of which grants visa exemptions to UN laissez-passer holders.

According to the statement from Angola's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the agreement includes provisions to facilitate courtesy visas for UN personnel and mission experts coming to work in Angola without possessing the laissez-passer. It also applies to dependents of UN employees stationed in Angola.

The other agreement signed on Monday provides legal provisions to allow dependents of UN employees stationed in Angola to engage in paid activities.

Angolan Foreign Minister Tete Antonio said these agreements demonstrate the commitment and excellent relations between the Angolan government and the UN system.

Zahira Virani, the UN resident coordinator in Angola, emphasized that this act symbolizes the United Nations' willingness to strengthen the work being carried out in Angola.
