YANGON -- Myanmar's National Defense and Security Council (NDSC) decided on Monday to extend the state of emergency in the Southeast Asian country for another six months.

BEIRUT -- The armed clashes between members of the Palestinian Fatah Movement and Islamist militants in southern Lebanon intensified on Monday, increasing the death toll to 11 and the total injuries to 37, the Elnashra news website reported.

TEHRAN -- A trainer aircraft crashed Monday morning in the northern Iranian province of Alborz, killing the pilot and his trainee, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported.

The crash occurred at 5:45 a.m. local time (0215 GMT) while the pilot, identified as Navid Arabi-Moqaddam, and the trainee Amir-Hossein Mahmoudi were in a training session, the report added. (Iran-Aircraft Crash)

SAN FRANCISCO -- An all-terrain vehicle (ATV) rolled over and burst into flames Saturday in Washington's Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, killing four young people on board, the Kittitas County Sheriff's office said on Sunday.

Officers received the 911 report of the Polaris RZR side-by-side ATV incident in the forest west of Liberty at around 4 p.m. (0800 GMT) Saturday. Rescue units arrived within minutes to treat survivors and stop the fire from spreading, the sheriff's office said in a news release. (US-ATV-Rollover)
