JERUSALEM, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Israel opened in West Jerusalem the longest hanging footbridge in the country, the Israeli Ministry of Jerusalem and Heritage said in a statement on Monday.
The 202-meter-long and 30-meter-high bridge stretches between the Valley of Hinnom and Mount Zion, west of both the Old City and the Green Line, the border separating pre-1967 Israel from the occupied Palestinian territories.
The new free-entrance bridge provides a unique tourist experience, allowing a view of different parts of Jerusalem, said the statement.
The bridge is located near the Valley of Hinnom's farm, which provides ancient agricultural activities of picking olives and producing wine and honey, it noted, adding that it is one of many projects aiming to lure tourists from all over the world to Jerusalem. ■
