ISLAMABAD, July 28 (Xinhua) -- The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) on Thursday granted a no-objection certificate (NOC), allowing the country's national men's field hockey team to feature in the upcoming Asian Champions Trophy in India.

The PSB said in a statement that the team will be allowed to participate in the event in the Indian city of Chennai after getting clearance. The tournament will be held from August 3 to 12.

The Asian Champions Trophy is one of the most prestigious hockey tournaments in Asia, and this year's edition will feature six top teams from Asia, namely Pakistan, India, South Korea, Japan, China and Malaysia.

The PSB extended its best wishes to the team for a successful campaign and said that the entire nation is behind the players.

Pakistan will play their first match against Malaysia on August 3.

Pakistan have won the Asian Champions Trophy twice, in 2012 and 2013, and shared the trophy with India in 2018.
