ST. PETERSBURG, July 27 (Xinhua) -- The second Russia-Africa Summit began on Thursday in the Russian city of St. Petersburg.
During the two-day summit, participants will discuss cooperation opportunities in food, energy, space, information technology, education and sports, among others.
Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said Tuesday that 49 African countries would send representatives and delegations to the summit, with 17 heads of state and some heads of major regional African organizations participating.
The first Russia-Africa summit was held in the Russian Black Sea resort city of Sochi in October 2019. ■
