SAO PAULO, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Corinthians has reached an agreement with Benfica to sign central defender Lucas Verissimo on loan, the Brazilian club said on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old agreed to a deal that runs until July 2024 and includes an option to make the move permanent.
Corinthians confirmed the signing on social media alongside photos of him signing a contract alongside President Duilio Montero.
Verissimo made 41 appearances across all competitions for Benfica following his 2021 transfer from Santos.
He has two Brazil caps, having made his international debut in a 2-0 victory over Peru in a World Cup qualifier in September 2021. ■
