MADRID, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Villarreal have signed Norway international forward Alexander Sorloth from RB Leipzig for a fee which could rise to 10 million euros.
The powerful striker has agreed a five-year contract with Quique Setien's side, who finished fifth in La Liga last season.
27-year-old Sorloth returns to Spain after having previously spent two seasons on loan with Real Sociedad, scoring 24 goals in 90 appearances. The San Sebastian side had been expected to make the move permanent this summer.
Sorloth will help cover for the loss of Nicolas Jackson, who joined Chelsea earlier this summer, while Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze is on the verge of a move to AC Milan and Arnaut Danjuma has joined Everton on loan for the coming season.
Villarreal are also expected to announce an agreement for a loan deal with AC Milan for central defender Matteo Gabbia. The Italian will replace Pau Torres, who has joined Aston Villa. ■
