BEIRUT, July 19 (Xinhua) -- The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Beirut Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Wednesday for cooperation in trade and investment.

The MoU was signed by Mohammad Choucair, chairman of the Beirut Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture, and Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, president of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industries, in the presence of Pakistani Ambassador to Lebanon Salman Athar, Lebanon's National News Agency reported.

Sheikh said the MoU would help establish solid and sustainable relations between the two countries, highlighting the "great benefits that will arise from effective cooperation in trade, investment, technology transfer, and related economic activities."

He also said a delegation of Pakistani businessmen from the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry would visit Lebanon soon.

For his part, Choucair highlighted the importance of the cooperation, saying a delegation of Lebanese businessmen already attended the international textile fair in Pakistan, and the chamber would send another delegation to the following food and agricultural fair in Karachi.

"This agreement will help the exchange of expertise between the two chambers," he said, stressing the importance of regular meetings to review the progress in the future.
