QALA-E-NAW, Afghanistan, July 17 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan government has begun reconstruction of the Lawman-Qaisar ring road in west Afghanistan's Badghis province, an official said on Monday.
The reconstruction work of the essential Lawman-Qaisar road began in Bala Murghab district on Sunday, and this government-funded project of rebuilding the 233-km-long road would be completed within two years, said provincial director for public work Abdul Rahman Rahmani.
This is the third major highway that Afghan authorities started reconstruction over the past week.
Earlier, the reconstruction work of Salang Pass, a major highway linking the Afghan capital Kabul to nine northern provinces, was launched on July 12.
The caretaker administration also initiated the work for asphalting a major section of the Kabul-Kandahar highway on Saturday. ■
