PHNOM PENH, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia exported bicycles worth 331 million U.S. dollars to foreign markets in the first half of 2023, a year-on-year drop of 30.5 percent, said a Ministry of Commerce's report on Thursday.

Ministry of Commerce's Undersecretary of State and Spokesman Penn Sovicheat said the Made-in-Cambodia bicycles had been exported to the European Union, the United States, Britain, Canada, Japan and China, among others.

"Bicycles have become one of our key manufacturing products for exports after clothes, footwear and travel goods," he told Xinhua.

There are currently five bicycle factories in the Southeast Asian country, all are situated in special economic zones in Svay Rieng Province's Bavet City on the border with Vietnam.

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said recently that the current global economic situation was not good, especially in the United States and Europe, saying that such a situation had made people in those countries earn less income, so their purchase orders also declined.
