SHANGHAI, July 7 (Xinhua) -- Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Thursday lauded China's AI industry development while addressing the opening ceremony of the World Artificial Intelligence Congress (WAIC) in Shanghai via video link.
China will have strong AI prowess in the future as there are many intelligent people in the country, Musk said.
He urged regulation of the AI industry worldwide as there is a concern and risk for a dark side from its fast development.
Musk also said that Tesla will likely achieve fully autonomous driving with L4 or L5 self-driving capabilities later this year.
Musk said it is rare for Tesla cars tested in the United States to require human intervention, noting that Tesla is willing to license its self-driving technologies to other carmakers. ■
