RIO DE JANEIRO, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Fluminense have completed the signing of Colombian forward Yony Gonzalez on a free transfer, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Thursday.
The 28-year-old agreed to a contract that runs until the end of 2024 after completing a medical in Rio de Janeiro earlier in the week.
Gonzalez had a successful loan spell with the club in 2019 when he scored nine goals and provided five assists across all competitions.
"I am very happy to be back," he told Fluminense's official website. "Fluminense is a club that I love a lot, where people have always helped me.
"I want to help the team achieve all of their goals for the year. I was very happy here, so my family and I are ready to settle down and I want to get to work straight away."
Gonzalez had been without a club since June, when he parted ways with Portuguese side Portimonense.
Fluminense are currently sixth in Brazil's 20-team Serie A standings and eased into the Copa Libertadores last 16 by finishing top of their group last week. ■
