MANILA, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Some 56.1 percent of more than 26 million households in total in the Philippines have internet access, showed a survey released Tuesday by the Philippine Statistics Agency.
The agency data showed that Metro Manila has the highest proportion of households with internet access at 74.6 percent, while the Zamboanga Peninsula, a region in the south, has the lowest rate at 28.5 percent.
Three other regions in the main Luzon island have higher internet access rates than other regions across the archipelago country.
Two in every five households use mobile broadband networks, via a handset, a SIM card, or a USB modem, as the primary type of internet connection, while 15 percent of the households have an internet connection through a fixed network.
The data also showed that more than 80 percent of households have a mobile phone. ■
