DAMASCUS, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Undetected landmines from wartime killed six civilians and wounded 13 others across Syria in June, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights war monitor reported on Monday.
The majority of the casualties were children in government-controlled areas and areas controlled by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, said the report.
The UK-based watchdog group urged the concerned humanitarian organizations to assist in removing the explosive ordnance due to the risk they pose to the civilians.
A total of 3,353 civilians, including 889 children, had been killed by landmines in Syria since 2011, according to the figures released by the United Nations in early April. ■
