HERAT, Afghanistan, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's Herat saw a bumper crop of potatoes as the government strongly encouraged people to cultivate the easy-growing food source.
The agro-climatic conditions of Afghanistan are ideally suitable for high-quality potato production.
Potatoes are a significant commodity for the impoverished country, with a strong domestic market and a seasonally fluctuating import and export market.
