BEIJING, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.31 percent to 3,243.98 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.59 percent higher at 11,091.56 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices exceeded 1.02 trillion yuan (about 141.36 billion U.S. dollars), up from 918.6 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares in non-bank financing, food and beverage, as well as transportation sectors led the gains.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.60 percent to close at 2,228.21 points on Monday. ■
