PHNOM PENH, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's anti-drug police have arrested a foreign woman for allegedly possessing and trafficking narcotics, confiscating 23.6 kg illicit drugs, the National Police reported on Thursday.
The 43-year-old woman was apprehended during a raid on her condo room in capital Phnom Penh's Chamkar Mon district on Tuesday after an investigation for several months.
"Three kinds of drugs including 22.5 kg ecstasy, 0.98 kg ketamine, and 0.13 kg methamphetamine were seized from the suspect during the crackdown," the National Police said on its website.
Some 123 kg unknown substance and drug processing equipment were also confiscated from the woman, the police added.
The Southeast Asian country has no death sentence for a drug trafficker. Under its law, someone found guilty of trafficking more than 80 grams of illicit drugs could be jailed for life.
According to the Anti-Drug Department, Cambodia nabbed 7,230 drug-related suspects, including 136 foreigners, and seized nearly 785 kg narcotics during the January-May period of 2023. ■
