AMMAN, June 28 (Xinhua) -- The Jordan Armed Forces said Wednesday that its eastern regional forces shot down a drone coming from Syria, the third drone intercepted this month.
The Jordanian forces downed the drone within the kingdom's territory after its illegal border crossing from Syria was detected by the Jordanian border guards, anti-narcotics department, and military intelligence, the state-run Petra news agency reported, citing a military source.
The report added that items carried by the drone were seized, without detailing.
Earlier the month, the Jordanian military brought down a drone carrying approximately 500 grams of narcotics and a combat drone respectively that were both coming from Syrian territories.
In May, the army foiled three attempts to smuggle narcotics into Jordan from Syria. ■
