BEIJING, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Li Chunsheng, former vice chairman of the Standing Committee of Guangdong Provincial People's Congress, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and dismissed from public office over serious violations of discipline and law.
The punishment was announced in an official statement by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision on Wednesday.
An investigation into Li's case has found that he had accepted money and gifts and organized banquets with public funds in violation of relevant Party regulations. He was also found to have accepted a private venue provided by a business owner, and took part in receptions and travels that could potentially compromise his impartial execution of duty.
Li abused his power to seek benefits for others in the personnel arrangement work of officials, and failed to faithfully answer relevant inquiries and report his personal information, the statement said.
The investigation found that he was involved in trading power for sex and had meddled with judicial, law enforcement and market activities, and abused his power to seek benefits for others in aspects including business operation and project contracting, and accepted a huge amount of money and gifts in return.
Li's case will be transferred to prosecutors for review and prosecution procedures, and his qualification as a delegate to the CPC Guangdong provincial congress was terminated, according to the statement. ■
