JERUSALEM, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are jointly leading the establishment of a multi-national cybersecurity information-sharing platform, the Israel National Cyber Directorate (INCD) said in a statement on Wednesday.

The system, named Crystal Ball, is part of the global efforts to combat hackers and ransomware attacks and is being set up in collaboration with the Israeli subsidiary of the U.S. tech giant Microsoft, according to the statement.

The Crystal Ball platform will enable the analysis and sharing of information in an "interactive, fast, safe and easy way" between countries on cyber defense issues, including the creation of national cybersecurity policies, the INCD said.

The project is part of the White House's International Counter Ransomware Initiative which aims to deal with the increase in ransomware worldwide and includes dozens of member countries and organizations.

Microsoft Israel's General Manager Alon Haimovich said an integrated and advanced response as well as the formation of coalitions is required in an era of sophisticated attacks.

He added that the new system will give countries the "power, capabilities and knowledge" to fight ransomware attacks in real time with "continuous, convenient and high-quality cooperation."
