HAVANA, June 27 (Xinhua) -- The third edition of the book "Solidarity without Borders" by Ocean Sur Publisher has been launched at the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) in the capital Havana.
"This is a very important book to help understand how this small island has expressed solidarity to the world despite the U.S. blockade against Cuba," said Ocean Sur editorial coordinator Ana Maria Cabrera on Monday.
The book is a compilation of 45 speeches by the leader of the Cuban revolution Fidel Castro and includes historical photos. The first edition was published in 2000, while the second was released in 2006.
"Solidarity is one of the pillars of the Cuban revolution's culture and policy," said Rene Gonzalez Barrios, director of the Fidel Castro Ruz Center, adding that the Caribbean island has long provided support to other nations in the health, education and construction fields, among others.
Meanwhile, ICAP president Fernando Gonzalez stressed that the book is a valuable tool for younger generations to learn about Cuban history.
"Since the beginning of our independence wars, solidarity has been rooted in the Cuban identity," he said, highlighting that the Cuban people want to thank the world for its support against U.S. economic sanctions. ■
