BEIJING, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Here are the latest Chinese sports headlines from the past week:
1. China takes two individual golds at Asian Fencing Championships

Chen Qingyuan and Mo Ziwei claimed the women's and men's foil individual gold medals for host China as the Asian Fencing Championships returned to Wuxi after 2016.
Chinese fencers also took three silver and six bronze medals from the premier competition in Asia, ranking third on the medal tally, which was led by Japan with four golds.
Without any titles in team events, China has to invest more efforts in the world championships in Milan, Italy to earn team berths for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
2. China's shuttlers win two golds at Indonesian Open

China clinched titles in the women's singles and mixed doubles at the Indonesian Open badminton tournament on June 18.
Olympic champion Chen Yufei overcame Spain's Carolina Marin in the women's singles final 21-18, 21-19 to take her first title on the BWF Tour this year.
Her compatriots Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong, the top-ranked pair in the world, defeated the Japanese duo of Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino 21-14, 21-11 in the mixed doubles final.
3. China concludes second stop of FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League with 2 wins, 2 losses

Chinese women's volleyball team concluded the second stop of the FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League (VNL) in Hong Kong with a narrow defeat to Italy on June 19.
Taking two wins over Canada and Bulgaria, China suffered its first defeat in the 2023 Women's VNL to Poland before conceding a full-set defeat to Italy.
With an overall 6-2 record, China now sits fourth on the tournament's table.
On the men's side, China suffered its sixth defeat in a row to Italy on June 22, sitting on the bottom of the table with only one win.
4. Chinese men's football team beats Palestine in international friendly

Wu Lei and Jiang Guangtai scored to lead the Chinese men's football team to a 2-0 victory over Palestine in an international friendly at home on June 20.
In the 34th minute, Wu broke the stalemate with a straightforward tap-in before Jiang netted his first international goal in the 66th minute.
However, China's under-17 side ended its AFC U17 Asian Cup campaign on June 22 with one draw and two defeats in the group stage.
5. Dragon boat races held across China to celebrate Duanwu Festival

Multiple dragon boat races were held across China on June 22 to celebrate Duanwu Festival, or the Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on the fifth day of the fifth month in the Chinese lunar calendar.
The 2023 International Canoe Federation (ICF) Dragon Boat World Cup was held in the mountainous county of Zigui, located behind China's Three Gorges Dam. A total of 18 gold medals were awarded, nine each for 8-paddler and 10-paddler boats.
Races were also held in Guizhou, Guangdong, Hainan, Henan, Anhui, Hubei, Shaanxi, Fujian, Jiangsu, Macao and many other parts of China.■
