OTTAWA, June 21 (Xinhua) -- The two missing Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) members after their helicopter crashed into the Ottawa River were found dead, the Department of National Defence announced Wednesday.

In a news release, the ministry said that they were found Tuesday evening and that neither member survived, without revealing the names of the deceased individuals.

The two missing air crew members were on board a RCAF CH-147F Chinook that crashed into the water near Garrison Petawawa during a training flight in the early hours of Tuesday.

Garrison Petawawa is about 150 kilometres northwest of the capital city Ottawa.

The two members were among a total of four who were on the 450 Tactical Helicopter Squadron aircraft at the time of the accident, the release said.

The other two members of the crew were found by Garrison Petawawa firefighters and taken to hospital in Pembroke with minor injuries shortly after the crash. Both have been released and are being monitored by Canadian Armed Forces medical personnel, according to the release.

The RCAF's Directorate of Flight Safety is conducting an investigation into the accident to determine the cause, the release said.
