LIMA, June 20 (Xinhua) -- Peruvian President Dina Boluarte on Monday appointed Cesar Vasquez Sanchez as the health minister, as his predecessor resigned following criticism over the handling of a dengue outbreak in the country.
Vasquez, whose specialty is public management and who has worked in hospital, is the second health chief of the current administration.
Vasquez's appointment came just days after former Health Minister Rosa Gutierrez Palomino resigned due to lawmakers' questioning over her handling of the dengue outbreak, which has infected more than 130,000 people and caused at least 200 deaths so far this year. ■
