MEHTARLAM, Afghanistan, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Afghan counter-narcotics police destroyed a drug processing lab and arrested six persons on the charge of involvement in drug business in Afghanistan's eastern Laghman province on Sunday, said a statement of the Ministry of Interior Affairs released here Monday.
Acting on a tip-off, the units of counter-narcotic police launched operations in different parts of Laghman province on Sunday, discovered and destroyed a drug lab, the statement said, adding police have taken six persons in custody for investigation.
The police have also uncovered a huge quantity of materials used in manufacturing heroin from the raided sites and possession of the arrested men, the statement added.
In similar crackdowns, Afghan counter-narcotics police destroyed four drug labs in Badakhshan, Samangan and Nimroz provinces on Saturday and detained three persons.
