BUCHAREST, June 15 (Xinhua) -- Romania's new government led by Marcel Ciolacu won the vote of investiture in Parliament with overwhelming support on Thursday.
The cabinet received 290 votes in favor and 95 against earlier in the day in a joint plenary session of the 465-seat bicameral legislature, much more than the required half-plus-one majority of the MPs. Romania's new government took the oath of office right after winning the vote.
Ciolacu will lead a new cabinet composed of two deputy prime ministers, one of whom is also the minister of internal affairs, and 17 other ministers.
Under an agreement reached by the members of the ruling coalition that was sworn in in November 2021, the country will rotate its prime minister every 18 months until the next parliamentary elections, which are expected in December 2024. Former Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca announced his resignation on Monday. ■
