FAIZABAD, Afghanistan, June 16 (Xinhua) -- More than a dozen foreign tourists are currently visiting Afghanistan's northern Badakhshan province to enjoy historical monuments and natural beauties of the mountainous region, provincial head for Information and Culture Qari Maazudin Ahmadi said on Friday.
"A 16-member team of Italian tourists who want to visit historical sites and natural beauties including Pamir, natural lake and fascinating landscape of Badakhshan, in meeting with provincial director for information and culture on Thursday described security situation and tourism condition in Badakhshan province as conducive," Ahmadi told reporters.
In the meantime, Director of Tourism Department in Badakhshan province, Sediqi Lalzad in talks with Xinhua said "beautiful landscape of Badakhshan, wild animals and pleasant weather would attract more foreign tourists to Badakhshan" so as to eventually boost the province's economy. ■
