RIYADH, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabian Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday that it would co-chair a high-level international conference on humanitarian response to the conflict in Sudan.
The conference will be held on June 19 jointly with Qatar, Egypt, Germany, the European Union, and the United Nations agencies, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The ministry reiterated Saudi Arabia's unwavering support for the Sudanese people, said the report.
A nationwide fund-raising campaign was also held in the kingdom to support the Sudanese people suffering from the conflict between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces that broke out in mid-April.
The ministry also highlighted the continued efforts made by the kingdom and the United States to resolve the differences between Sudan's two warring parties through the talks in Jeddah, alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people, and end the crisis through political dialogue. ■
