ANKARA, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Turkish defense company Baykar Technology announced on Wednesday it has signed a 367-million-U.S. dollar contract with the Kuwaiti government to export drones.

Baykar said in a statement posted on its Twitter account that it has "successfully" completed the contract with the Kuwaiti government on the export of domestically made Bayraktar TB2 drones.

It added that the drones were tested in Kuwait in July 2019 and broke a record by flying continuously for more than 27 hours under challenging geographical and climatic conditions such as high temperatures and sandstorms.

The contract will "enhance defense capabilities of the Kuwaiti army," the Kuwait News Agency cited a statement from the Kuwaiti Defense Ministry as saying.

Besides providing necessary maintenance and logistical supplies, the contract includes "preparing special facilities for those aircraft, including arming, electronic warfare equipment, and mobile ground control stations that are compatible with NATO standards," the Kuwaiti Defense Ministry said in the statement.

Neither Baykar nor the Kuwaiti Defense Ministry revealed how many drones will be delivered or when exactly they will be delivered.

Baykar said Kuwait is the 28th country in the world to conclude a contract on TB2 drones.
