TOKYO, June 8 (Xinhua) -- The 2023 International Tokyo Toy Show, one of the largest toy trade fairs in the world, opened Thursday at the Tokyo Big Sight convention center as toymakers gathered to showcase their latest products.
The four-day event, running from Thursday to Sunday, is expected to bring together 156 firms worldwide to exhibit some 35,000 toys to an estimated 90,000 visitors.
Chinese toymakers, many from the "toy capital," the southern Chinese city of Shantou, participated in the exhibition.
The show will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, while the first two days are confined to business-related visitors and the press.
According to data from the Japan Toy Association, the country's toy market size went up 106.7 percent year on year to reach 952.5 billion yen (about 6.8 billion U.S. dollars) for the period from April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023. ■
