BEIJING, June 8 (Xinhua) -- At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, President of the Republic of Honduras Iris Xiomara Castro Sarmiento will pay a state visit to China from June 9 to 14.
Castro, 63, is among the founders of the Liberty and Refoundation Party. In her previous role as first lady, she devoted herself to poverty reduction, women's causes, and medical and health services during that time.
She was elected the first female president of Honduras in November 2021 and was inaugurated in January 2022.
This is her first visit to China. ■
