LA PAZ, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Bolivian President Luis Arce on Monday hailed the country's trade surplus, saying the rebound in exports would lead to an influx of foreign revenue.

"Despite an adverse international context, we continue to make progress in economic reconstruction. In April 2023, the value of our exports reached 988 million dollars compared to imports of 917 million dollars, reflecting a trade surplus of 71 million dollars," Arce said via social media.

At a press conference, executive director of the National Statistics Institute (INE) Humberto Arandia said: "Exports exceed imports and this situation allows us to have a greater availability of dollars in our economy, benefiting the supply of foreign currency in Bolivia."

He added that for the first time, Bolivia exported electricity to neighboring Argentina, a factor that helped to boost revenue.

"This situation, without a doubt, favors the entry of foreign currency into the country and contributes to a positive trade balance," he said.
