NAIROBI, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's senior men's football team, Harambee Stars, is set to take part in a four nations tournament in Mauritius slated for June 11-18, the local federation announced on Monday evening.

This tournament will also feature hosts Mauritius, Djibouti and Pakistan.

According to Football Kenya Federation (FKF), the tournament will give Turkish head coach Engin Firat an opportunity to prepare the team for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup qualifiers.

"This tournament offers us diversity in the opponents we shall face, especially at a time when most African nations are engaged in AFCON qualifiers. Playing three matches gives me an opportunity to give more players a chance to show what they can offer," the coach said in a statement released by FKF in Nairobi.

The team is expected to report for residential training in Nairobi on June 5.

The team's next competitive assignment will be the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, set to kick off between Nov. 13 and Nov. 21.

The draw for the qualification stage will be conducted on July 12.
