CHIZHOU, May 17 (Xinhua) -- The number of migratory birds that come to Shengjin Lake in Chizhou City for winter has increased from around 60,000 to about 100,000 thanks to the efforts of improving management and ecological protection of migratory birds' habitats by the local government.
Four out of 15 major crane species in the world come to Shengjin Lake to spend the winter every year.
Chizhou, a city by the Yangtze River in east China's Anhui province, is the wintering habitat for migratory birds due to its warm climate and well-preserved wetland ecosystem.
