XI'AN, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Xi'an, the capital city of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, is the starting point of the ancient Silk Road. More than 2,100 years ago, Zhang Qian set off from what is now Xi'an as an envoy of the Han Dynasty. He started his mission to the western regions via Central Asia, which eventually led to the opening of the Silk Road.

The city of Xi'an is fully ready for the upcoming China-Central Asia Summit. The summit, scheduled for May 18-19, will bring together the leaders of the five Central Asian countries and China.
